When can I learn to surf?
Outer Reef Surf School runs morning, afternoon and evening surf lessons depending on availability and the time of year. The sessions last for approximately two hours and we ask that you check in 10 minutes before the lesson start time. Please read our terms & conditions for more detailed information.
Where is Outer Reef Surf School?
The location of surf lessons may vary. It is the responsibility of the customer to make themselves aware of where the lessons will be held. This can be done by contacting us on the day of the lesson around 9.00 am..
Can I just turn up or do I need to book?
It is absolutely best to book because each course has a limited number of places. The strict instructor-to-student ratio ensures a more personal level of instruction for every surfer.
What do I need to bring?
The cost of the course includes the use of a wetsuit and surfboard. You will need to bring a towel, some swimwear to wear under your wetsuit and we recommend you bring a sweatshirt to keep warm after your session. Plus, it's not a bad idea to wear sunscreen. To make your experience as convenient as possible, Outer Reef Surf School also provides storage for your belongings while you learn to surf.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
All beginners courses take place in waist-deep water so you do not need to be an excellent swimmer. The instructor will work with each individual so they can enjoy their surfing lesson within their own level of confidence.
What will I actually be doing?
Our instructors are all fully qualified BSA surf coaches & beach lifeguards who will run you through the first stages of learning how to surf in Pembrokeshire. They will introduce you to the equipment, how to surf it and how to catch a wave. Safety is a big factor and you will be shown good awareness of your surroundings, whilst at the same time we can guarantee you will have a great time at some of the most beautiful beaches in Pembrokeshire.
