Morocco from £95

Morocco has more than 2000 km of coastline, and if you add Mauretania you can double this number. From north to south there are 4 mountain ranges (for snowboarding in winter). Rif (2200m), Middle Atlas (2600m), High Atlas (4200m) and Anti Atlas (3000m) ranges divide the coastal zones and green hills in the north from the dry Sahara in the south. Nearly every climatic zone can be found here. The coast is hot during summer (30°-40°C and warm at nights), mild during winter (18°-25°C and cool at nights). In the mountains it is cold (0°C) and in the desert it is hot (up to 80°C). Morocco has aproximately 300 sunny days a year and the water temperature is 18°C at Agadir. Items of warm clothing should be brought in winter.
A 2/3-full suit should be sufficient.

The headquarters of surfers during winter is Taghazout, 15km north of Agadir. From there, about 10 breaks are within walking distance (e.g. the stony reef of Killers or the sandy Banana-Beach). With a car, you have more options and it is far more comfortable to get to the breaks. During summer, you can go to Sidi Ifni (150km south) or to Imsouane (70km north). If you are a windsurfer, you have to go to Essaouire (160km north), a destination often being compared with Tarifa.
This account is written for the region around Taghazout (spoken “Ta-rah-zoot”)

Accomodation
Accomodation consists of double bed-rooms (triple bed-room on request) at the surfhouse in Taghazout (extra charge for single room £30 per week). There are two different terraces available, one to chill out on and one for sunbathing. From these you can check out three different spots, (Hash point, Anker point and Panoramas). All rooms are equipped with electricity, cupboard, table and naturally beds. Toilet and shower are located on every floor of the house.

Course-package
This year our offer is specially suited to the feeling that summertime never ends. While autumn slowly starts in Britain and the rest of Europe, Morocco’s temperatures are become more comfortable. So for the first time this year at the northern African Atlantic coast the beginners’ courses will be continued in wintertime. The courses last for one week, including training, equipment, accommodation in the Atlantic Hotel (double-, triple or four-bed rooms) at Taghazout and breakfast. Training will take place on the hotel-beach (Taghazoute-Plage), just a few meters away from the terrace. This also provides you with the perfect place to check Anchor-Point, Hash-Point and Panoramas.
