ISA LEVEL 1
SURF INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSES
This surf instructor training course is designed for surf instructors that will be teaching learn-to-surf lessons for beginners and early intermediate level surfers. The ISA Surf Level 1 Certification is the industry standard for surf Instructors at quality surf schools around the world. This is also the most popular ISA Course with the broadest international appeal.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ISA COACHING & INSTRUCTING PROGRAM:
- To establish an international system of Coaching and Instructing Courses, improving the safety and efficacy of surf instruction around the world.
- To further develop, through educational programs, a body of knowledge on which Coaches and Instructors may draw.
- To provide Coaches and Instructors with employment opportunities, encouragement and support.
- To advance surf Coaching and Instructing as a globally standardised and highly professional activity with stringent requirements.
- Over time this program has expanded to other areas of professional development education for our great sport of surfing.

ISA LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2 SURF INSTRUCTOR COURSES
The ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Qualification is the basic Instructor accreditation and minimum requirement for professional instructors to hold. It covers the teaching of entry level and basic beginner surfers through to an early intermediate level. All level 1 Instructors must be a minimum age of 16 years old. Instructors under the age of 18 must work with a supervising instructor until they reach 18 years of age, at which time they are able to instruct on their own. The requirements for accreditation and gaining the ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor qualification are ▪ Attend the 2 Day ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Course. COURSE CONTENT
Duration: 2 days
Cost: £300
You will learn:
- The role of the Surf Coach and Duty of Care regulations
- Risk management & safety including identifying surfing lesson hazards
- How to plan and run an engaging successful lesson
- Different board skills and techniques
- Assessing students performance and evaluating outcomes of your lessons
- Minimising environmental impacts
PREREQUISITES
- Minimum 16 years old (Please note that Instructors under the age of 18 must work with a supervising instructor until they reach 18 years of age)
- A good level of fitness is required
- Show and understand the rules of priority
- Able to negotiate the line-up
- Show confidence in going left and right
- Confident swimmer
- Completion of the ISA Introduction to Surf Instructing E-Learning Course (additional $50 fee paid directly to the ISA. Read more on the FAQ's)
