How Good Is The Surf In Wales?

HOW GOOD IS THE SURF IN WALES?

The winter surf here in Pembrokeshire has been epic with plenty of swell lighting up some lesser known local surf spots (they’re secrets, shhhhhhh) and we’ve been grateful for some glorious windless sessions in the sunshine.

You may have spotted pictures of this past weekend’s rare mega swell, which made our home break Freshwater West come to life like a grey version of Hawaii’s North Shore.

THE CRIBBAR, NEWQUAY

Whilst down in Cornwall The Cribbar, Newquay’s infamous big wave spot, turned it up to eleven giving the UK’s leading big wave riders to catch some of the largest waves ever recorded in the UK, with Tom Butler leading the charge.

#OUTERREEFFROTH

It’s been a very long time since we’ve seen such a perfect combination of solid clean swell coming from such a perfect angle coupled with light off-shore winds, so we’ve linked some of the images shared that really made us froth to get in the water.  If you took any shots from this mega swell, tag us in your Instagram posts with #OUTERREEFFROTH and we’ll choose our favourite to win a Dryrobe @ the end of February.

If like us you’ve been super inspired and are keen to improve your technique or just getting started then take a look at our coaching packages available to pre-book here.  But if the idea of entering the chilly water at the moment has got you shivering then check out our fresh drop of Billabong's finest winter wetsuits and Dryrobe changing towels, kitting you out to stay warm as toast, which you can find online in our shop where click and collect is also available during the lockdown.
