Surf Clubs In Wales

Outer Reef Board Riders Surf Club have been congratulated for their surfing success at an action-packed Surf Club Presentation evening. More than 9800 members have taken part in the Pembrokeshire surf club in the last 10 years. More than 350 people attended the evening at Greenhill School, which celebrated the accomplishments of the Outer Reef Board Riders Surf Clubs & showed what they have achieved over the last 10 Years. Surf Scheme certificates & Billabong goody bags from Outer Reef Surf School were presented to 280 pupils & a short film was screened to demonstrate the clubs’ achievements. Pupils had a chance to go on an indoor surf simulator and compete in a RNLI challenge to see who could put on drysuits and oilskins the quickest, with Tenby surf shop ‘Underground’ & Pembrokeshire Surf & Sup Centre donating prizes to the fastest pupils. The junior surfers also enjoyed looking around stalls from Tenby Lifeboat Station, Tenby beach lifeguards, Surfers against Sewage, Underground and Outer Reef Surf School. The evening was organised by Wyndham Williams from Sport Pembrokeshire, who also helped set up the after School Surf Clubs at Tenby Junior School, Greenhill and Pembroke school as well as several other schools now taking part ten years ago after pupils showed a keen interest in surfing.

“It’s been made possible with the support of Dean Gough from Outer Reef Surf School & the clubs have really gone from strength to strength over the last two years,” said Wyndham.

Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Cultural Services, Sports, Leisure and Tourism, added: “The surf club take advantage of the fantastic blue flag beaches that Pembrokeshire has to offer and their popularity is a great way to engage pupils in physical activity.” Organised by Sport Pembrokeshire – the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council – the Outer Reef Board Riders project aims to encourage more junior & secondary school children to take part in extra-curricular activities, while getting fit at the same time. We know have a clear pathway for the students to train & gain work with the RNLI, some of the top outdoor activity centres & surf school in Pembrokeshire.

We are stoked & super happy to be working together with Pembrokeshire County Council, The National Trust, The Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter Group, The Surf School Alliance, Billabong, Nixon, O'shea, Milford haven Port Authority, Adventure Activities Licensing Team, Pembrokeshire Surf Centre, The Welsh Surfing Federation & The Under Ground Surf Shop & of courses not forgetting all of our amazing members.
