FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SURF CAMP - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE WETSUITS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
I DON’T KNOW MY WETSUIT SIZE, WHAT SHOULD I PUT?
Let us know what size hoody or dress size you wear S M L XL XXl (Women’s 6 - 20).
I HAVE MY OWN WETSUIT, CAN I WEAR IT?
Of course you can! If you only have a shortie or are unsure if it still fits you (don't worry it happens!), let us know what size you are anyway and we can bring you a suit just in case.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR MY ACTIVITIES?
- A swimming costume/shorts
- A beach towel
- Some flip flops or shoes to walk over the pebbles (if needed)
- Any medication you may need (eg. Asthma inhaler)
- Warm clothes to change into afterwards
- A big smile and a sense of adventure
SUP: For ease, we recommend using one of ours. They are all top of the range O’shea, Jobe and Finla boards.
Surf: If you have your own board you are more than welcome to use it but we do recommend one of our Foam boards as they really help when you are learning.
SUP: No, you don’t need shoes, bare feet grip very well to our boards. If your trip is from Stackpole Quay, we recommend bringing some shoes that you can leave in a bag at the Quay as there are a few stones to walk over to get to the water's edge.
Surf: You may want to bring some shoes to walk over the pebbles at our surf beaches. These will be left on the beach while we are in the water so please dont bring your most treasured shoes!
The beauty of watersports is that anyone can give them a go! We have taken people on the water from every walk of life imaginable. All we ask is that you can swim at least 25m unaided as this is for your safety.
I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION, CAN I STILL COME?
Yes, in most cases you can absolutely still come along to our weekends. All of our instructors take ‘rescue bags’ out on the water with them so any medications can go into this bag for the duration of the activities. If you would like to discuss this with us further, please drop us an email and a member of the team will contact you.
DO I NEED TO BE A STRONG SWIMMER?
We do ask that you can swim at least 25m unaided in order to join us on any one of our sessions.
We use various accommodation providers across the South Pembrokeshire area including Geo Domes at The Little Retreat, lovely country houses on the Stackpole Estate and hotel style seaside accommodation in Saundersfoot and Tenby. Most of our accommodation has self catering facilities. Please note, some accommodation will be shared.
Your accommodation will be well signposted with Outer Reef signage for your arrival and you can check in from 4pm. The following day your team of instructors for the week will meet you just outside your accommodation at 9am for a meet & greet.
We offer flexible catering to suit your preferences. Most accommodation providers have self-catering facilities for breakfasts. For lunches, bring packed lunches or purchase meals at our beach venues. Multi-day camps include a group dinner at a lovely local pub on Saturday evening - a highlight where everyone shares their surf stories!
Of course you can! The majority of women who come along on our weekends come solo. We want to connect you with like minded ladies who enjoy similar activities!
Pembrokeshire and the locations we use for our activities are quite remote. However we can offer advice and recommendations for local public transport options, just get in touch with us prior to your arrival. Once everyone has arrived for the weekend, we recommend car sharing as location venues can be busy.
WHEN DO I FIND OUT THE ITINERARY FOR ACTIVITIES?
All our water based activities are subject to weather and swell conditions. We want to make sure you have the best possible experience on the water with us so we will email you the week before your arrival with a rough schedule based on the forecast and will fill in any gaps at the meet & greet.
WHERE WILL OUR SURFING LESSONS BE RUN FROM?
Freshwater West or Manorbier Beach
WHERE WILL OUR SUP LESSONS BE RUN FROM?
Stackpole Quay, Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot Harbour
IS THERE SOMEWHERE TO SHOWER OR CHANGE AT THE ACTIVITY LOCATIONS?
Our locations do not have changing facilities so we recommend wearing your swimming costume under your clothes. Tenby North beach has a cold water public shower that is free to use. All other locations do not have shower facilities. We recommend bringing a towel robe or Dry Robe to change after your session.
All of our locations have toilet facilities.
IS THERE ANYWHERE I CAN LEAVE MY BELONGINGS WHEN WE ARE ON THE WATER?
Yes! You can leave your car keys etc in our vans or our lock ups (depending on the location). Outer Reef does not take responsibility for any items left and we do have limited space so please don’t bring your diamond jewellery and massive overnight bags!
HOW LONG DOES EACH ACTIVITY LAST?
1.5hr - 2hrs
I'VE HAD TO CHANGE MY PLANS AND CAN’T COME ANYMORE. WHAT CAN I DO?
Don’t worry, we understand these things happen.
If you cancel more than 3 weeks before your arrival date, we are able to give you a full refund.
If it is less than 3 weeks before, we will endeavour to fill your spot. If we are unable to do so, we will issue a voucher for the value of the activities which you can spend in one of our stores or on activities in future. Unfortunately we are unable to refund the accommodation.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS POOR?
We operate in most conditions - it's all part of the adventure! If genuinely unsafe, we offer full rescheduling or refund

SURF CAMP SURF EQUIPMENT HIRE
Foamies are the ideal boards for anyone learning to surf. With their extra volume and buoyant design, they make it easier to catch waves and stay balanced. Their soft construction also helps reduce the risk of bumps or knocks - perfect for beginners building confidence in the water. If you're just starting out, hiring a foam surfboard is a great way to enjoy a safer, more enjoyable first surf experience.
